Strand on the green is an outrageously picturesque part of London. The towpath where we will be drawing ( featured with The Beatles in their film Help) runs along the bank of the river, overlooked by industrial buildings that formerly included malt-houses, repair yards, barge-builders and wharves. From here we have unbroken views across the river between the railway bridge downstream and Kew Bridge up.
Assemble and meet the group leader outside The City Barge pub( W4 3PH) at 1:00pm. There will a brief introduction to the session with a couple of sketching tips. Sketch, and then meet back at The City Barge at 3:00 to review the drawings with a drink. Nearest stations are Kew Bridge via South West Rail or Gunnersbury by overground or District Line tube.
